Basil Rathbone reads the "221b" - the sonnett by Vincent Starrett
Просмотров 964 месяца назад
Isn't it strange that he literally reads “view-halloo” as “view-hello”? This means that he did throw off the rhyme scheme: “view-halloo” and "true". 221b Here dwell together still two men of note Who never lived and so can never die: How very near they seem, yet how remote That age before the world went all awry. But still the game's afoot for those with ears Attuned to catch the distant view-h...

Well of course he struggled on questions about Sherlock Holmes, why would Mycroft even care about his brother's various comings and goings?

It's interesting that he labels Holmes as a minimalist and isolationist, beyond the work, when he's all about experiences, even if its not all conventional. He's got the violin and concerts, tobacco, coke unfortunately, his love of dogs and horses even if he doesn't have them himself, and of course his friendship and partnership with Watson that's probably kept him alive much longer than he would be alone. He's not a rock, he's highly emotional at times just in his own way.

it is a very open interpretation of this beautiful short story. In Katherine's story there is no mention of the presence of the cleaner as a woman who somehow constantly draws attention to the masculine character of the story. Perhaps it is a way to attract the public, but it is a shame because precisely the situation that the couple is experiencing in that exile, those very subtle experiences, are lost.

I can't stand John Middleton Murray. I have 3 books about Katherine's correspondence to people but mainly to him. He was self centred, pompous and spineless. I think thats why she married him as she was smarter in general and tougher than him! She thought he was academically superior to her but I wonder as she had an excellent education at Queens College in London!

The one fellow said that Holmes is a superhero teamed up with someone fallible (Watson), wrong, sir. Holmes was terribly flawed and Watson gave him some stability. Holmes was an addict, bipolar, and very nihilistic about existence, yet he needed Watson's cool headedness and stability, proper of an army surgeon. With time you can see how Watson's compassion for people rubbed off on Holmes, as Watson began to learn Holmes's methods of deduction as well, hence the perfect duo.

16:46 Basil Arrives! The gag of the show is we are watching “the rehearsal for tonight’s show” and a prop car has been stolen. Milton is running around looking for it while other acts coming to “rehearse” their performance. But Sherlock appears to save the day!…sort of😅.
